Love This Life

Hi scrappers! I'm taking part in the Scrapbooking Boot Camp put on by Ella Publishing. I'm having fun learning new techniques and have been inspired by the creativity. I heard about this on the blog of one of my favorite scrappers Nichol Magouirk, who just happens to be one of the "Design Drill Instructors". The scrapbook page that I'm going to share with you today was inspired by a lesson from Lisa Dickinson on designing with grids. I haven't really done anything like this before, but I can see how versatile it can be. You can expect to see more of this in the future.


I used three 4x6-inch photos. I used my Cricut to die cut the title. I had a piece of paper from My Mind's Eye that I used for the journal spots. I cut it in half and used part on the bottom left and top right of my page. I like how it draws your eye diagonally across the page, bringing attention to the photos. It also helps break up a photo heavy layout.

This page was quick to put together which is always a plus since most of us are usually behind on our scrapping.

An Artist At Work Layout

Hey scrappers, this is Kate from Sassy and Scrappy! I hope you all are enjoying your summer with family and friends, I certainly am. The pictures I chose to scrap today are of my nephew decorating some $1 bird houses I picked up at Michael's, they are gifts for his Mom and my Mom (Grammy) for Mother's Day. As you will see in the pictures he loves using lots of bling and flowers. He had a vision, so I let the little artist run free with my supplies...well, with a little supervision. Lol!


Here is a sample of the paper and cardstock stickers I used.


I decided to cut a pair of scissors and a bottle of glue to add to my layout. Both of these items came from Nate's ABC's.



In the two pictures above I tried to show a little bit of my process. I cut and lay out my paper and embellishments where I think they will go, before adhering anything. As you can see I ended up moving things around.


This is a picture of the tag I added my journalling to. I used 2 different stamp sets and a border punch from Fiskars.

Instead of using one of my cartridges for the title of this layout I decided to used a combination of Thickers and alphabet stickers. I like the variation in color and style of the letters.

Happy Happy Everything

Hello scrappy friends! I recently got this paper stack in the mail from Papertrey Ink and I wanted to use it right away. I love the color combination and patterns. These patterned papers match perfectly to PTI's 'New Leaf' and 'Spring Rain'. I love the combination and I thought it would be fun to make two cards with the same color combos and images, but change the background pattern.


I used Nate's ABC's for the umbrellas and boots image. The image reminded me of spring and went perfectly with my color scheme.



Instead of inking my edges, I outlined the umbrella with a blue marker from Stampin'Up.



I initially was going to outline the puddle with glossy accents, but once I started I decided to fill it in all the way. I'm really happy with the results and I think it creates some added interest and dimension.



Here are the two cards side by side. The difference in patterns if fairly minor, but each one really pulls out one of the two primary colors.



A close-up. I love Nate's ABC's, it's a fantastic cartridge! And I'm really looking forward to playing more with Kate's ABC's. I think I'm going to be using it for some Easter cards, so stay tuned for that.
