Happy Father's Day!

Hi!  It's my turn to post at She's A Sassy Lady and I decided to share a couple Father's Day cards. My design is so simple that this is more of a card share than a tutorial.

I picked the tie, mustache and 'Dad' sentiment from the online Silhouette store.  I think these two images are perfect for a couple quirky yet masculine cards.

I took this picture to give you an idea of the size of this sentiment.  I continue to love how well the Silhouette cuts intricate images on even the thickest cardstock.

I used a scrap to punch a couple of hearts for my cards.

Details:
  • Authentique 'Journey' Collection
  • Echo Park 'Dots and Stripes'-Metropolitan
  • October Afternoon 'Rocket Age' Collection

Are you inspired to tackle a Father's Day card? I hope so.  As with most holidays, it will be here before we know it, along with the last day of school...which is the next project on my list.  Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

A Sketch To The Rescue

Hey scrappers, it's that time again, my turn to post a project at She's A Sassy Lady.  I was looking for a little inspiration and came across a great blog with lots of beautiful cards and great sketches.  I highly recommend you check out The Sweetest Thing.  I found a sketch that I really liked and decided to give it a go.

There weren't any measurements included with the sketch, so I'll include mine.  As always with sketches you can flip and move things around.  I'm using a standard 4 1/4 by 5 1/2-inch card.  Starting from the lower left corner: 3 1/2 x 3, 3 1/2 x 2 1/2, 1 1/4 x 5 and 1 x 5-inches.

The camera is a die cut image from the online Silhouette store.

The banners below were part of the reason I chose the card sketch.  All sort of great sentiments that can be added to a card or layout.

Here's my completed card.  Simple, but great pops of color and patterns.

I decided to create another card using the same sketch.

A view of the dimension on this card.

  • Solid Cardstock:  Papertrey Ink

Easter Treat Bag

Hi scrappers, once again it's my turn to share a project at She's A Sassy Lady.  As of late, I seem to have become quite the treat bag aficionado, and I figured, why change a good thing now?  Lol!  I also felt like since we're quickly approaching Easter you, my fellow scrappers, might appreciate a little inspiration.

The box I chose is from the online Silhouette store, but you can certainly find something similar on several Cricut cartridges.

Here is the basic box cut and scored.  I decided to personalize it and create a window.  I used a Spellbinders die and taped it on the inside of the box before I ran it through the Cuttlebug.  You can see that in the picture below.

Then I cut a piece of of vellum and glued it to the inside of the box.  This way the recipient can get a little peak of what's inside.  You could also use acetate if you prefer.

Even though I have a window I wanted to add this sweet little image of a bunny carrying his Easter eggs.  He was easy to color and would be fairly quick to duplicate if you wanted to make a large quantity of treat boxes.  I also added some dimensional pearls to the image.

Below is a picture of the assembled box.  As you can see there is a flap that folds down to close it up.

Of course I had to add a button and some twine to the enclosure.  Honestly, I can find a place for a button on nearly every project I create.

I decided to "frame" my image and used one of the same dies as above, to create it.  I did a little inking around the edges and added some dimensional adhesive.

Supplies:
  • Pattern Paper:  October Afternoon "Sidewalks"
  • Solid Cardstock:  Papertrey Ink "Sweet Blush"
  • Spellbinders Nestabilities "Large Labels"
  • Stampendous "Art Bunny" Stamp
  • Ink:  Jenni Bowlin- Chewing Gum and Speckled Egg, Memento- Tuxedo Black
  • Button:  Papertrey Ink
  • Vellum:  Papertrey Ink
  • Twine:  I can't remember the brand, sorry.
  • Copic Markers

Thank you so much for stopping by.  I hope my little project provided you with some inspiration.  See you soon!

St. Patrick's Day Treat Box

Hello scrappers. It's my turn to share a project over at She's A Sassy Lady today...and it's a quick and easy one. I racked my brain for something creative and new to share with you, but it just didn't come together. I know you can all understand how that goes.

I am loving the 3-D boxes available in the Silhouette store, they are so easy to put together (no score board necessary!) and they are only 99 cents, can't beat that combo. So, I put together a little St. Patty's Day treat box.

Above is the box exactly as it came off my cutting mat. I also cut several shamrocks (also from the Silhouette store).

I decided to use a background stamp and embossing folder to spice my shamrocks up a little.

After stamping and embossing I added a little more embellishment to the shamrocks with buttons, brads and twine.

Generally when I cut boxes from the Silhouette I don't have to worry about covering up all the score marks because they're usually very small, but for this project I did decide to ink the edges. I like the added dimension and pop of color it provides. Obviously this is personal preference.

And the finished project...I told you it was quick and simple!

Details:
  • Cardstock: Papertrey Ink-New Leaf and Stamper's Select White
  • Ink: Jenni Bowlin 'Seed Packet'
  • Buttons: Maya Road (wood) and October Afternoon

  • Twine: The Twinery
  • Stamp: Hero Arts 'Zig Zag'
  • Cuttlebug Embossing Folder 'Polka Dots'
  • White Seam Binding
  • Label Stickers: Authentique and October Afternoon

Thanks for joining me today! I'm working on getting my crafting mojo back so I hope to see you back hear soon.

Valentine's Day Lollipop Treat Holder

Hi scrappers, I'm sharing my She's A Sassy Lady design team post with you today.

I have a quick and fun Valentine's Day treat idea for you. Recently I've seen a lot of wrappers/holders for lollipops and cake pops all over the place and with Valentine's Day quickly approaching I thought it would be fun to create one for my nephew's class. So, I started searching the Silhouette online store...I didn't find a wrapper specific for my lollipops, but I did find a shape I could work with.

Below is a picture of the shape right after I took it off the mat. I did all my sizing or re-sizing as it were, before I cut. The score lines are made by the Silhouette.

All I did to get the desired wrapper was cut off the portion at the top. About an inch below the top note edge is a score line, which made it easy for me to see where I needed to trim. My measurements were all based on the length and width below this score mark.

Next up I used the bottom of the wrapper as a stencil to round my corners. ***Please ignore my nails which are in desperate need of a manicure, lol.

I placed a small glue dot in the center of my wrapper.

The glue dot helps hold the lollipop in place until the wrapper is all tied up.

Next I punched a hole on either side of the lollipop stick to insert my twine, and hold the lollipop in place.

To finish I added some robot images I colored with my Copics.

Now, in case you aren't a "colorer" (yeah it's not a real word, but I'm going to use it anyway) or want an option that's quicker, here's another idea. This robot is from the Silhouette store and if you fill up your mat you can cut a bunch a one time, which is always a great idea when you have a large quantity of anything to make.

Valentine's Day Treat Box

Hi scrappers! I'm sharing my monthly project over at The Bugbytes with you today.

I decided to get a head start on Valentine's Day projects. I found this milk carton in the Silhouette store and thought it would be perfect to fill with goodies for my nephew.

I stretched the image to fill the mat, when standing the box is just over 7 inches.

I decided to ink around the edges of the box. One thing I like about the Silhouette Cameo over the Cricut is that the perforations aren't as visible, so the addition of the ink enhances the box as opposed to using it to cover up unsightly cut lines.

I used a Martha Stewart punch to create an embellishment around the box.

The paper that I colored my stamped image on is a bright white, which doesn't fit with the vintage looking paper I chose, so I spritzed over it and inked the edges.

In the picture below you can see how the spray mist changed the color of the paper, it also adds the appearance of texture.

A close-up of the top of the box. The Silhouette cuts out the holes, so all I had to do was string my ribbon through and tie it closed.

In this picture you can see the colored and stamped image a little closer. I thought the robot was the perfect addition for a boy-themed Valentine.

Not Your Average Layout

Happy New Year scrappers!

Now that the holidays are over and life is getting back on track I have a lot of scrapbooking to catch up on, so I decided I'm going to take it easy on myself. I purchased some divided page protectors from American Crafts, which you can see here. This is my first time using them and I have to tell you it was a lot of fun and so easy.

I started by printing three 4x6 photos. Using my Silhouette Cameo I cut a title and accents for my page. As a side note, I love my Cameo! I use thick cardstock, primarily Papertrey Ink, and it cuts beautifully, even thin details like you can see in the picture below.

I added some color mist to my cardstock. You should know, I make a big mess if I spray the paper while it's on my desk, so now I have a designated "misting" box.

It's a little difficult to tell from the picture below but I tested out where I wanted to adhere embellishments by placing the photos/paper in the pocket and then laying stickers, buttons, etc to the plastic. I also added stick pins to the layout by pushing them into dimensional adhesive. You can see that in the bottom right of the picture below.

A couple close-ups of my layout.

The Details:
  • Pattern Paper: October Afternoon 'Sidewalks'
  • Cardstock: Papertrey Ink
  • Silhouette Cameo: images from Silhouette online store
  • Stickers: October Afternoon
  • Star Stick Pins: Maya Road
  • Stamp: Technique Tuesday 'It's Ok'
  • White Embossing Powder-Stampendous
  • Sprinkler/Mist-October Afternoon 'Brown Bag'
  • Buttons: My Mind's Eye "Lost and Found"
  • Twine: The Twinery
  • Border Punch: Fiskars 'Apron Lace'
  • White Gel Pen
If you're looking for permission, I'm going to give it to you now...go easy on yourself. I love traditional 12x12 layouts, but I will admit, they take time. Allowing myself to use one of these divided page protectors saved me time, and right now that's important to me.

Thank you so much for allowing me to share with you today. I hope to see you back here soon!
