Papertrey Ink-Make It Mondays

Hello. As most of you know if you've spent any time at my blog, I love Papertrey Ink (PTI)! And this week I've already shared a few cards I created for some wonderful challenges they have going on, you can see there blog here. Well, they are starting a new weekly challenge called 'Make It Mondays' where the designers will share new techniques or favorite things and then ask us to create our own version.

This week we were challenged to create a "Go-To Sentiment" card. Isn't that a great idea?! Well what better card to have on hand than a birthday card, in fact I really could have used one last week! Since I'm still building my collection of stamps and learning about this whole card-making hobby, I decided to keep it small.

This card is 4 x 4-inches. I used PTI fine linen cardstock and ribbon as well as Harvest Gold pattern paper from PTI 'Distressed Dots' paper pack. The sentiments are from several different PTI sets, all related to birthdays of course!

Challenge Entries

Hey bloggies! I wanted to share a couple of projects I completed for two different challenges. The first one is Peachy Keen Sketch Challenge #44 with a twist you can see the sketch on their site. The twist is to use monochromatic colors, as well as white or black as needed.

Well of course I knew I had to include a peachy face, so then what? I recently purchased a flower die from Papertrey Ink (PTI) and decided it was time to pull it out. All of the paper and ribbon is rasberry fizz from PTI as well. The punch is by Martha Stewart and the adorable peachy face is from the 'Wide Eyed Kids Face Assortment'...an absolute must have! I found the Valentine stamp in the dollar bin at Michael's and used some white embossing powder to add a little extra dimension. To make the card a little extra special I added an Action Wobble to my flower, so fun!

I think the card turned out pretty well. This is my first submission in a Peachy Challenge.


Next up I created a project for the Cricut Circle Monthly Challenge. We were asked to use at least 4 Cricut cuts and include something edible in the design. I found this fantastic scepter box on the 'Life's A Party' cartridge and knew I had to make one. I cut the box and all the layers at 10-inches. The paper is a combination of Martha Stewart, BoBunny and PTI. I inked all the edges of my cuts with Rose Red Memento Ink. The stamp I chose is one that is included in a Martha Stewart punch. I also embossed it with white embossing powder and I love how it pops on the red cardstock. The ribbon I found at Michael's in the holiday section.

Layout-Let Them Eat Cake

Good morning. Today I want to share a layout that I put together with some picture's from my nephew, Micah's 5th birthday. The layout's look so much cuter with the pictures, so I had to include them! The 2 adorable girls are my cousin's Emma and Marnie (Margaret) both 4.

Layout Details:
All of the paper is BoBunny
Photo Mats (Emma & Marnie)-mat #1 5 inches and mat #2 5 1/4 inches
(Micah)-mat #1 5 1/4 inches and mat #2 5 1/2 inches
Center PP-6x12 inches
Journal Tag-mat#1 2 3/4 x 3 1/2 inches and mat #2 3 x 3/4
I used a stamp from Prima for the journal lines and 'You Make Me Smile' is a sentiment from Papertrey Ink Signature Greetings. I embossed my sentiment with some silver Zing embossing powder.

All of the cuts are from Simply Charmed, which by the way is an absolutely adorable cartridge! Let me apologize in advance in regards to the title. I created my own shadow, but for some reason I don't have the measurements in the Gypsy.

All of the ink, ribbon, twine and buttons are from Papertrey Ink. The jewels are Imaginisce and set with my Tulip.

Happy Birthday Dad!

I apologize for the quality of the pictures. Today I'm sharing a birthday card I made for my Dad. I got my inspiration from a stamp made by Prima, which basically looks like a musical score. To make the shape card I took an image of a stamp, from B is for Boy, and welded two together to create a standard A2 size card. The top note shape is from Storybook. I made one top note slightly larger to use as a shadow. The music notes, aren't they cool!, are from Gypsy Wanderings.

Pretty Princess Birthday Card

Good evening! I wanted to share a birthday card I made for my Mom. She turns 60 tomorrow, August 7. Happy Birthday Mom! My Mom has been blessed and doesn't look anywhere close to 60, in fact a lot of people think we're joking when they find out. I wasn't sure what I was going to make her, and then I found the "Pretty Princess" on the Mini Monster cartridge...it's such a fun cartridge and I think my Mom will get a kick out of her princess card.

The button is from my stash. I also used Glossy Accents on the princess' eyes as well as the button.

The fence, which is also from the MM cartridge is incredibly intricate, but cut out amazingly well on the PTI cardstock. I did use the multi-cut feature, and it came right off my mat with hardly any weeding necessary...it's also a pretty new mat which helps. The grass is from the Gyspy Wandering cartridge.

Card to Wall Art

Hi blogging friends. The other week my SIL asked if I could make her a couple cards for 2 baby showers she was attending, which by the way I forgot to take pictures of. I was a little extra excited because I got to make "girlie" cards. They were a big hit by the way! One of her friends that was at the shower is also pregnant, and asked if I could make one for her as well. She loved it and wanted to hang it on the wall in the baby's room. She doesn't know yet if she is having a boy or girl, but thought the card had a good mix of colors and it would fit in either way.

I decided to make it 5x7in. instead of the standard A2 size, because I thought it would be a nice size to frame. I made a few changes so that it was a little more unisex, but used all the same original colors. It's very simple, but sweet. I hope she likes it!

I do find the layering of the deer a little odd, so I did make a few cuts of each layer in different colors to see what I liked the best. There is actually one more layer which I used on the cards, but decided not to on this one. There are just so many cute images that are great for babies and children and it's so hard to choose sometimes! The good news is there is pretty much always a reason to scrap or make a card.

Layout -Sunshine

Good morning! I hope everyone is having a great weekend! I love how this LO turned out and wanted to share it.

I also came to a realization that I need an adhesive remover. I hate how you can see the residue in pictures! Anyway, on to the layout...

I picked a circle from the George cartridge and used my Gypsy to weld the word 'sunshine' around the top. I chose to make it the focal point of the page since I knew that was where I would put my picture. I used both layers of the font on CL for 'sunshine' and then used Plantin for 'you are my'. I also used my Gypsy to weld those 3 words together. Then I got some more circles from George and made them several different sizes to create a border and a place to put my title. I did use my Gypsy to make sure the circles were large enough to fit a word on 3 of them. I also used a scalloped circle punch for the smaller circles. I did some inking around the letters with the help of a great tool called Fantastix. It's a small pointed tool that can help you get ink on some of those small letters and embellishments. I found out about this tool from Elizabeth at 217 Creations . She is amazingly talented, so please go check her out.

Think Pink

Happy Wednesday. Thanks to a reminder from Robyn, a.k.a. My Pink Stamper I finally got my butt in gear to make a card for Monique Griffith. She is an amazing member of our cricut community who was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. I had the pleasure of purchasing one of the kits she designed in the past and had so much fun creating my LO. I have been following her journal entries since I found out she was diagnosed and she is such a strong and inspirational woman. She actually recently designed a new kit, and I believe you can still purchase some of her past kits. If you get a chance, check her out here and leave her some blog love!

I have to admit, and I know I'm in the minority here, I don't use pink very often. But I have to say I think my skunk turned out pretty stinkin' cute.

Two of my favorite things

Hi everyone! Well today I am sharing a layout that shows two of my favorite things...the beach and my girl, Ellie. I actually remembered not to mount all of my pictures before I photographed my LO, yea me! But I had to share a picture of my beautiful girl lounging on the beach.

I didn't use my cricut at all on this page! I don't do that very often, but sometimes it's a nice change. Everything I used on this LO, including the embellishments and quote, are from Anna Griffin-Alix Collection. I really love the paper I used for the photo mats and how it appears to have so much texture. The colors are really vibrant and perfect for summer pages. I just added some white grosgrain ribbon from Papertrey Ink, 4 brads to frame my title, and my journalling.

Throwback Thursday Challenge and my First Submission

This was the first project that I posted online. I made it for Emma's first 'Throwback Thursday' challenge on her blog My Creative Time. She is so talented and very sweet. If you're looking for gypsy tutorials her site is the place to go!

The theme was animals. The paper is from My Mind's Eye and the frog is from Mini Monsters. I just added some twine, glitter and some white doodling with my gel pen.

Throwback Thursday Challenge

My first post!
This is my submission for this week's Throwback Thursday. Emma, at My Creative Time, has weekly challenges where we use older cricut cartridges to create new layouts, cards or altered projects. This weeks challenge was to use Paper Doll Dress-up for an altered item. I don't have PDDU, yet, so I used Everyday Paper Dolls for the lion and the arch on the side of the box. I used Plantin Schoolbook for the oval and number 5. I also added a couple of Prima flowers and a stamp from Papertrey Ink.

My nephew turns 5 on June 27, and we are going to see 'The Lion King'! I thought I would create a fun gift box to place the tickets in. I really like how bright and cheerful it turned out.
